Project 7 Construction were approached to undertake the daunting task of re-configuring the Olympic Stadium seating bowl from it’s summer use of athletics to the winter mode of football. This required alteration to all 4 stands in the lower bowl to improve the viewing experience of the spectator; primarily moving them forward and installing the relevant walkways and bridges to allow access and egress.
The transition of the stands on this scale had not been attempted previously; nor under such a restrictive time frame. To ensure the successful transition the Project 7 team developed an innovative air skate system to allow free movement of the seating structure. P7 worked collaboratively alongside the client and project team to ensure the event went ahead successfully.
The “can do” philosophy throughout the project team ensured it’s successful delivery allowing for the Premier League season to commence as planned.
